ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
We receive many inquiries as to what is required to complete one of our kits so we have developed an identification system to help you decide if you are up to the task. This system consists of three skill levels; red, orange and green and we will place a skill level badge on the web page for each of our kits.
The critical skill required to build all of our kits is soldering. If you are confident in your soldering abilities and can follow directions, then you should encounter little difficulty. All of our assembly manuals include step-by-step instructions and all of the kits are provided with the parts individually packaged in labeled plastic bags.
We do assume you already know how to solder, so no instruction is provided. If you have never soldered before, but would like to give it a try, we suggest you begin by Googling 'how to solder'. There are many very well produced instructional videos on the worldwide wide web for soldering.
Green is
our easiest assembly level. Soldering is required but only point-to-point
wiring and no printed circuit boards are involved. These kits can typically be
completed in less than one hour.
Orange
is our most common assembly level. Soldering is required, for both
point-to-point wiring and soldering individual components onto printed circuit
boards. These kits can typically be completed in less than two hours.
Red is our
most difficult assembly level. The type of soldering to be performed is the
same as the Orange Level however kits at the Red Level are more involved and
will take much longer to complete.
None of our kits require that you be able to read and understand electronic schematic diagrams. However being able to do so will help you to explore the full capabilities and functionality for several of our modules and/or allow you to experiment and modify to suit your own tastes and requirements.
